Brett is finally (after 4.5 weeks) on his way home. Yea! We have really missed him. This isn't the first time nor the longest time that he has been gone but sure feels like it has been.
Katherine was so excited every time that we were able to Skype with Brett. The internet connection at his hotel wasn't the strongest so it wasn't too often that we were able to Skype. It did make it easier when we were able to see him. I think that even the dogs enjoyed seeing daddy "on T.V.".
We were certainly busy while Brett was gone. Katherine and I went to three birthday parties, watched the Oscars, made cupcakes and played indoor rainy day games. I also took BJ and Lucky to go play at the daycare facility at their vet's office. It takes them about two days to recover. :)
Within the four weeks, I interviewed for a job, went through a two week background check, accepted a job and have one week under my belt. Woo Hoo! After almost a year of looking, I found a job. It has also made me think about going back to school to get my masters and my teaching credentials.
We have also been working through the many different options about the rental house ~ keep it or give it back? What is ethically correct? It has nothing to do with monetary as we have been "carrying" that house for the past four years. Is it time to just let it go since there are four houses within a one block radius under foreclosure and being sold for anywhere $60k - $120k less than what Brett bought it for? We have an appointment with a mortgage attorney in the next week to figure out what the best plan of action is going to be.
And, to wrap everything up... Brett's parents went to Maui the night before the tsunami. Luckily, they are just fine and now enjoying their vacation.
So, as usual... it's never a dull moment here at the Tossell household. Next week starts off a whole new adventure!!
